STUDIES AND DIPLOMAS
Born in Parma in 1977 and musically
grown at the Conservatoire “A.Boito” in Parma, he studied:
- VIOLIN with Prof. Alessandro Simoncini(Nuovo Quartetto Italiano),
graduating in June 1998 at the age of 20, under the guidance of
Prof. Grazia Serradimigni(Quintetto Materassi);
- PIANO, obtaining the 8th year Level in 1997;
- COMPOSITION, obtaining the 7th year Level in 1999 under the
guidance of M° Emilio Ghezzi(now Headmaster of Conservatoire of
Parma). In June 2001 he graduated in piano(Diploma ABRSM Performing)
“with distinction” by the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of
Music, London. Meanwhile he has been studying Orchestra Conducting
attending:
- Annual Courses(Vimodrone-MILAN), from 1994 till 1996, with M°
Julius Kalmar(pupil of Hans Swarowsky and teacher at the Academies
of Music in Vienna and Hamburg);
- Summer Courses with M° J.Kalmar(Follina-TREVISO), M° Yuri
Ahronovitch(Riva del Garda-TRENTO) and M° Bruno Aprea(Cava de’
Tirreni-SALERNO) from 1994 till 1997.
From 2002 he has been studying ORCHESTRA CONDUCTING with M° Manlio
Benzi at the Conservatoire “G.Rossini” in Pesaro where he graduated
in September 2005. He has studied History of Music with Prof.
Gustavo Marchesi and Aesthetics of Music with Prof. Giordano
Montecchi. He had also attended Advanced Courses between 1994 and
2001:
- in violin, with Prof. Ivan Rabaglia(Trio di Parma) and Prof.
Franco Mezzena
- in piano, with Prof. Oxana Yablonskaya.
MUSIC ACTIVITIES (CONCERTS AND
PERFORMANCES)
ORCHESTRA CONDUCTING
After he had conducted, during some
annual and summer Courses, the Venetian Musical Ensemble
“G.F.Malipiero”, the Orchestra “H.Swarowsky” of Milan and the
Philharmonia Orchestra of Rome:
in 1997 he founded the String Open Orchestra “Giovane Emilia”, in
Parma making his début on 14th June 1998 with the collaboration of
“Corale G.Verdi” of Parma as a Conductor for the Concert “In the
middle of the 18th Century”(Summer season of Parma township “Parma’s
Summer 1998”) with works by Bach, Händel, Telemann and Mozart. On
1st March 2003 he conducted the Symphony Orchestra of the Conducting
Course at the “Pedrotti” Auditorium in Pesaro, performing the
Overtures from Mozart’s “The Marriage of Figaro” and from
Beethoven’s “Fidelio”; on 24th March 2004 he conducted the
“Orchestra Filarmonica Marchigiana”(F.O.R.M.) performing the
Overtures from Mozart’s “The Marriage of Figaro” and from Rossini’s
“L’italiana in Algeri” at the “Pedrotti” Auditorium. Moreover, from
2004, he conducted excerpts from Mozart’s Haffner and Linz
Symphonies, Haydn’s Symphony no.103, Beethoven’s 7th Symphony,
Tchaikovsky’s String Serenade and Symphony no.1, Schoenberg’s
“Verklärte Nacht” and the whole of Shostakovitch’s 1st Symphony and
as well as excerpts from Mozart’s “The Marriage of Figaro” in
collaboration with pupil singers of Prof. Evgenija Dundekova at the
Conservatoire in Pesaro in some rehearsals. He also conducted with
the Orchestra F.O.R.M. movements from Mahler’s 4th Symphony and
Strauss’s “Last four songs” at the Theatre “Pergolesi” in Jesi,
during some rehearsals of M° Gustav Kuhn in April 2005. On 21st
April 2005 he conducted the Orchestra Filarmonica Marchigiana, in a
concert in Pesaro(Auditorium Pedrotti) performing the Suite op.46
Pelléas et Mélisande by J.Sibelius. On 2, 8 and 10 of July 2005 he
conducted the String Ensemble of the Bavarian House of Odessa in and
around Regensburg(Bavaria-GERMANY), performing Bach, Vivaldi, Haydn,
Boccherini, Rossini and Mendelssohn. On 30 August 2005, at the end
of the Workshop about Verdi’s Aida organised by M° B. Aprea, he
conducted Act One of Aida in Amalfi(Basilica del Crocifisso), during
the Festival “Le Corti dell’Arte”, with the Orchestra of the Theatre
in Cluy and the winners of the Lyric Competition in Eboli “Vissi
d’Arte”.
PIANO AND CHAMBER MUSIC
He made his début 27th May 2000 at
Parma’s “Corale G.Verdi” for the Concert “Orchestra in Piano”
playing Sonatas of Beethoven, Skryabin and Liszt. He held a
lesson-concert on 1st June 2001 at the “Forum Hall” in Ravenna with
the organization of the “Liceo Musicale E.Pinza”. On 5th of October
2004 at the Messianic Kibbutz “Yad Hashmona”, 15 km from
Jerusalem(Israel), he played the piano version, by the composer, of
Haydn’s Oratorio “The last seven words of our Reedemer on the
cross”. On 10th October 2004 at the “Yad Adumim” Hall of “Victims of
Terrorism Center” in Afula(Israel) he played the Respighi’s Piano
Suite, by the composer, of “Antiche danze ed arie per liuto”. From
year 2002 to 2004 he played together with the soprano Grazia
Doronzio in Ferrara(Educational Center “Casa Cini”),
Pesaro(Auditorium “Pedrotti”) and Ancona(Auditorium of
Pietralacroce) performing works by composers such as Monteverdi,
Bach, Mozart, Schubert, R.Strauss, Berg, Fauré, Ravel, Poulenc,
Alfano and Petrassi.
COMPOSITION
He made his début as a composer on 17th
January 2000 at Parma’s Teatro Regio when the pianist Luca Tanzi,
during the performing of the Mozart’s Piano Concerto K. 503 with the
Orchestra of the Conservatoire “A.Boito”, played his Cadenza for the
1st movement. On 15th November 2001 he made his début in
Taipei(capital of TAIWAN island) as a composer-collaborator for
western music, during a puppet show “Marco Polo”, organized by
Taiyuan Arts and Culture Foundation of Taipei, in which his musical
pieces, created during the year 2001, were performed. In May 2002 he
finished a 4 hands piano transcription of 3 excerpts from
L.Bernstein’s “West Side Story”, which had been requested by Duo
Palmas of Cremona(Italy). In June 2002 he composed 2 pieces for
Piano Trio, which were performed the 29th of September 2002 in
Taipei, requested by “The TTT Puppet Center” of
Taipei(www.taiyuan.org.tw) for a play, including actors and puppets,
called “Autumn Rain”, played from the 18th till the 21st of
September 2003 at the Experimental Theatre of Taipei. Since 2003
have “Marco Polo” and his own music been performed in Barcellona,
Madrid(Circulo de Bellas Artes), Tegucigalpa(Honduras, Instituto
Hondureno de Cultura Hispanica), London(Purcell Room) and
Paris(Université Vincennes-Saint-Denis, Amphithéâtre X).
SURVEY OF PAPERS
Quotations, reviews and interviews have
been published on “Suonare News”, “Il Giornale della Musica”, “La
Repubblica” in Italy, “The China Post”, “El Heraldo” and
“Mittelbayerische Zeitung” abroad, and on regional newspapers and
channels as “La Gazzetta di Parma”, “Il Resto del Carlino”,
“Corriere Romagna”, “Corriere Adriatico”, E’ TV and Antenna 1.
AWARDS AND MERITS
In 1998 he received the Biennial Music
Award “Cesare Alfieri”(town of Parma) and in 2002 a Music Award from
the Social Institute “Ancora” of Ravenna, during the 5th Edition of
the Review “Uno di noi”. In 2003 he won, with the soprano Grazia
Doronzio, the 3rd Prize in the range “Vocal Chamber Music” at the
National Review in S. Pietro in Vincoli(Ravenna)
